New DERfare tool saves time and reduces error rate

Faster and more efficient: Thanks to the DERfare full-content booking platform developed by DERPART, DER BUSINESS Travel travel agencies benefit from significantly simplified processes, noticeable time savings and much easier day-to-day work. The platform is undergoing continuous further development and is already being used successfully on the market. It not only enables a fully integrated booking process, but also offers access to important market innovations, including the more favourable NDC fares of the Lufthansa Group and Air France/KLM. Further airlines will follow step by step, so that the available distribution offer will grow continuously. Employees of DER BUSINESS Travel travel agencies Droste in Düsseldorf and Reisebüro Dr. Tigges GmbH in Essen report on their experiences.

„DERfare has fundamentally improved our daily work. We save an enormous amount of time; manual work has been significantly reduced and the error rate minimised as a result,“ reports Nina Abidli, office manager at Reisebüro DROSTE, the traditional travel agency in Düsseldorf city centre. The company, which is over 100 years old, has 20 employees and is one of the founding members of DERPART. The company has been using DERfare for its business travel bookings since September 2025.

Since its introduction, everyday use has quickly shown how much the system streamlines processes. The difference is particularly noticeable in the booking process: additional services such as extra baggage, excess baggage, seat reservations or, if required, services such as pet transport or sports baggage can be added directly during the booking process. Without additional tools, without detours, without subsequent manual steps. Another major advantage is the automatic profile connection, which greatly reduces the team's workload. „All relevant customer data, from contact details to frequent flyer programmes, is immediately available to us in DERfare without us having to update anything manually. This saves an enormous amount of time and significantly reduces errors,“ explains Abidli.

DERPART offers the two established systems Ypsilon Profiles and Umbrella Faces, so that every travel agency can use the solution that best suits its own processes.

The extended flight search with filters such as arrival times, journey duration or travel class as well as the integrated notepad, on which offers can be saved and booked immediately upon confirmation, also contribute to a noticeably more efficient workflow.

„As we, like Eurowings, are based in Düsseldorf, we book a particularly large number of Eurowings flights via the attractive online fares,“ adds Abidli. „For Lufthansa NDC bookings, we can also use the usual travel plan from DER BUSINESS Travel. Everything looks the same for our customers - the process is much easier for us.“

In conclusion, she emphasises: „We work very closely with the DERPART headquarters and appreciate the exchange and the excellent support. The continuous development of new tools shows that DERPART understands the needs of the industry. We can't imagine a better partner.“

For the team led by Sandra Kirschbaum, team leader at Reisebüro Dr Tigges GmbH in Essen, the use of DERfare has also significantly reduced the workload in their day-to-day business. „We were involved in the development of the tool right from the start and have been using it since April last year. After a short familiarisation phase, it quickly became clear how much easier it makes our employees“ work," reports Kirschbaum.

A key advantage is the automatic transfer of customer profiles. „Thanks to the profile connection, we no longer have to think about so many little things and save ourselves numerous intermediate steps,“ she explains. All relevant information is directly available in DERfare, which speeds up the entire booking process and significantly reduces the susceptibility to errors.

The connection to the Lufthansa Group's NDC fares saves additional time and enables a more efficient booking process. Other airlines are to follow step by step, so that DERfare's range of functions continues to grow.

For Kirschbaum, one thing is certain: „DERfare is not just a programme that simplifies our processes. It is a system that is constantly being further developed and responds flexibly to our requirements and processes. This is exactly what makes the collaboration so valuable for us.“
