"Pimp it up" - chargeable upgrades

Most airlines offer you a range of options and the market for paid upgrades is growing, as this is of course a profitable business for the airlines.

Don't waste anything!

As a tip, we would therefore strongly recommend that you always contact your travel agent first to see if there are any fares that might make a valuable upgrade superfluous or unprofitable. This should always be checked in advance. Do not hesitate to contact your DER BUSINESS Travel travel agency.

Here are the various options for paid upgrades:

  • Upgrade with miles: You can use miles from your frequent flyer programmes to get an upgrade.
  • Upgrade with miles from other frequent flyer programmes: This is possible, for example, if you want to earn miles in an airline network such as Star Alliance and use them on an airline in the same alliance.
  • Upgrade with eVouchers: Another option is to use eVouchers. Some airlines offer upgrade vouchers that can be purchased by passengers. These vouchers can then be redeemed for upgrades.
  • Upgrade against bid: Some airlines organise auctions where passengers can bid to get an upgrade. This can be an exciting way to get an upgrade at a lower price.
  • Upgrade at a fixed price: If bidding for an upgrade is too uncertain for you, you also have the option of booking an upgrade at a fixed price.

It is important to note that the availability of upgrades depends on several factors, including flight capacity utilisation, frequent flyer status and airline policy.

We hope that this information will help you in your decision to pay for an upgrade and wish you a good flight, regardless of the class!
