This is where the new innovative concepts of time slots come into play.
In the following, we would like to give you an overview of the best offers for time slots at security checkpoints at German airports and show you how these offers can make your business trips even more efficient:
Berlin: BER Runway
You can reserve a time slot from 7 days before departure. You can then use the general access to the security checkpoint. Reservations can be made up to one hour before departure for Schengen flights and flights from T1 and 1.5 hours for non-Schengen flights and flights from T2.
Düsseldorf: DUS gateway
Bookings are free of charge and can be made online from 72 hours and up to 60 minutes before departure. Passengers who still have to go through passport control can book up to 90 minutes before departure at the latest. The reservation gives passengers access to the "DUSgateway", a separate passageway to security control at gate B. A particularly convenient feature is that the reservation is automatically synchronised with the boarding pass. This means that passengers only need to present the code they received at check-in at the automated boarding pass control. Families and groups of up to five people can use the time slot per booking. A time slot can be selected at a fixed time per quarter of an hour and used from five minutes before or up to five minutes after the selected time.
Frankfurt: Smart Way
With FRA SmartWay you can book a personal time slot from 72 hours before departure for selected security checks at Frankfurt Airport. Simply reserve a time slot. You will then receive a QR code by email, which you can use in addition to your boarding pass to gain access to the assigned checkpoint at the agreed time.
The following security controls are currently equipped and the following flight events are therefore possible:
Hamburg: Slotandfly
The Slot&Fly lane in Terminal 1 is available. Reservations can be made from 72 hours before departure.
Hanover: HAJway
With the HAJway, you can go straight through to the security checkpoint in Terminal A or C via a separate entrance and avoid long waiting times. This service can currently be booked for flights departing from Terminal A or C. The booking or reservation is free of charge.
Cologne/Bonn: CGNGateWay
A CGNGateWay time slot can be reserved from 72 hours before departure.
Munich: Express Queue
With an Express Queue reservation, passengers in Terminal 1 travelling to destinations in non-Schengen countries can go directly to the security check via an extra entrance in departure areas B and C and reduce waiting times. The service is offered daily from 6 am to 3 pm. The last possible time slot is no later than 90 minutes before departure time. Passengers who wish to use "Express Queue" must present themselves at the Express Queue entrance in front of the security checkpoint within their time slot after completing check-in. Using the QR code on the reservation confirmation, passengers go directly to the security checkpoint via the separate access. It is also possible to use a separate lane at passport control with the same QR code.
