AI checks travel expense reports

DER BUSINESS Travel with new Amadeus module

Restaurant receipts, receipts for taxi journeys, bus and train ticket invoices: accounting after a business trip can sometimes be very tedious for both employees and employers. DER BUSINESS Travel now has a solution to this problem. The company is providing its partners with the "Smart Audit" AI module for Cytric Expense from Amadeus.

But what exactly can "Smart Audit" do? It checks all digital receipts submitted with a travel expense report via the Cytric Expense Portal. The traveller can conveniently upload these at any time by scanning them via the Cytric mobile app. The AI then analyses all receipts, making it highly likely that errors in the expense report will be detected. "When accounting staff go through the receipts, they usually don't have the time to look at everything in detail and overlook important details. In larger companies, only around 20 per cent of receipts are usually checked; AI manages 100 per cent," says Katja Vortmann, Vice President of DER BUSINESS Travel. This increases productivity and the customer saves around 2.5 per cent of the costs that would otherwise have been incurred for unjustified payments.

DER BUSINESS Travel provides its customers with two versions of the AI module. The basic version simply checks the submitted documents for duplicate receipts, while the advanced model even recognises when something appears on the invoice that should not be charged, such as the purchase of alcohol or cigarettes.

Overall, the use of the AI module saves the inspector a lot of time: "He doesn't have to do all the Sisyphean work, the AI does it in just a few minutes. We are delighted that we can now offer our business travel customers this technological support," concludes DERPART Managing Director Thomas Osswald.
